AHL!

When I saw this I almost totally lost it: Halflife.org has gotten hold of some very sweet AHL screenshots, and that MP5K looks way hot. The big question is which realistic mod will take the HL community by storm? Former A-Team member Gooseman's Counter-Strike, or the fan-magnet AHL? I'll let you, the fans, decide. It will be a Celebrity Deathmatch before you know it, though ;).

Next is a fairly new site called God of Quake that has free hosting for sites. I can't tell if it is really new, but it doesn't look complete yet. Supplies some tactics for regular Q2, but I believe they may go into AQ2 hosting/tactics.

Lastly are my thoughts on Q3A. I can paraphrase into three words: what the fuck? I mean, come on, a Mac release? Must be an advertising scam or something ;). Mad props to id for actually remembering the Mac though, and having a very sweet looking game.(as I can tell from the screenshots.) AQ3, anyone? ;).

New Sniper Rifle Model

Wow. Lotsa news lately. A new replacement model has been in the works for the past 2 weeks for the Sniper Rifle model. Made by Cloud and skinned by Red13. Looks great and so are the animations. It weighs 1440 Polys which isnt to bad compared to the SSG. Here are 2 screenshots of the sucker:

Since this came out Ive actually been able to snipe people (Dont ask me how). Used to suck with the rifle but this aint no rifle anymore :). Ive started Vweap for official models for the magnum because right now you see a sniper rifle still. Here are 2 vweap shots for the male model with this magnum. Here and Here. Lots of news today

Lots of news today. First off Im done Blade and Suit Vweap. You can grab them off the files page. They also include Vweap briefcases for AQ:E. Run them on your servers :) You can view the Blade model with a BC here and Suit with another BC here.

A new version of AQ Start came out today. This version adds multiple configuration support and BW-ADMIN COMMANDS!! woohoo :) Also theres word of a new bot out that gets by BW-Admin. This new bot dosnt use impulses and uses multiple ports so it will be harder to track. Hope Zarjazz adds this bot protection to BW-Admin. Grab the new version on the files page.

I have found a mod that has tons of features. Allot of people have been asking for Friendly fire and location definations and this mod has it. Even has map voting. It is called Action Quake2 Edition and its made by PG BUND. Click here for a list of features. Download it off the files page.

Holy Handcannon another Front End

Well this is something I did not expect today :) Another AQ2 Frontend is out and this one looks great as well. AQ2:SEaL is its name and it supports all action quake2 commands and AQ:E support as well (action.scp editing). You can view some very good looking screenshots here and visit the page here. AQ Start

Bah. Aside from having to format and reinstall both Win98 and Win NT there hasnt been much happening...

Except !! A new frontend for Action Quake has been released called AQ Start. Weighing 4 megs with all the vb runtimes, installer and supporting almost every command for action quake this is a must get (along with Shingy and Renegades Launcher :). Demo Stuff

A new version of the great demo playing app Demoplay has been released today supporting many more games including Half Life. If any of you watch the demos on the demos page, grab this nifty app and it will save you a bunch of time and hassle.

Speaking of Half-Life, Suislide posted on the AQ2 Home page about Action Half-Life and how he wants everybody to stop mailing him about it. It is coming so stop mailing him. heheh.

I found a zip from Pacemaker on the AQ2 Message Board showing how to do the jumps he does on urban. Thought it was pretty cool and now its on the demos page. Go watch them if your wanting to make playing urban more interesting :)

Shingy has joined up with the AQ2SPP team and will be helping them with adding single player entities (like monsters) into various AQ2 maps. Cyberdude also posted that a new version of AQ2SPP should be out soon.

Sorry the Vweap is coming very slowly. I've embarked on a new journey :)

Stuff

1st off the links page has been updated and is now sorted in alphabetically. No favoritism here :)

2nd Marine Vweap has been updated with AQDT's Briefcase Vweap. Grab it on the files page ofcourse. I also bolded the AQ2SPP link down 1 post cause allot of people including me couldnt find it. You should all get it too. It owns.

3rd the AQDT Scenario Depot is now open. Nice :). Sent some of my scenarios in too. Assassinate the Backstreetboy baby :)

AQ2SP

Short update this evening, and I was a little surprised when I got the mail. The AQ2SPP (Action Quake2 Single Player Project) has been started by the Squadron people (also working on the Starfighter Q2 TC). They seem to be converting AQ2 maps into SP/COOP maps for a refreshing break from DM or TP. The details are sketchy, but I do hope they do some original objectives/maps, and some enemy models. Now that would own =]. It also uses Promagnon's 1.07 code, custom ents, and a frontend. If you're wondering whether or not it's been released, it has! Version 1.00 comes with....well I'll let you go see for yourself. My guess is that this will be one of those awesome mods when it's fully released. SP/COOP always owned me =].

Nothing

As the topic says, I've got nothing better to do for the next half hour, so I might as well update.

In Actor's Guild news, Unorthodox is on vacation. This will be bad, since he is the leader of my clan and if we have OGL matches, it's gonna get sloppy. Anyway, they have some new gunskins and a pic of a magnum for a new sniper rifle. I can't figure out how you would fit a silencer onto a magnum, or being able to use the scope the way you can in AQ2 without smashing your eyeballs. Just a thought.

Not Action news, but a new version of Navy Fortress has been released. It's quite full of features and weapons, and AQ2 fans might enjoy it. It's a class-based CTF game, and beats AQ2 teamplay hands down (regular teamplay, not mods...).

Gangsters

Gangsters is out. Server and Client can be downloaded at their page. I donno how this is going to compete with Espionage because I havnt tried out Gangsters yet but AQ:E is simply amazing. Specially Escort the VIP in Hostage2 with my custom Backstreet boy scenario :)

The 4 Maps that are used with Gangsters are Teacher, City, Avenue1, and Blockwar. These have special entities added to the code with location message. %L will report your location and %S will report the enimies you see.
Example: bind "say_team I'm %L, enemy spotted %S; radioteam aqg_company" will output "I'm outside the Police Station, Enemy spotted on Police Station Roof" and let everyone hear "we got company" (example from the map City).

AQ:G also comes with the Velvet Jackson model with AQ2 Vweap. I'll also be updating the Marine VWeap with AQDT Briefcase Vweap.

AQ:E!

When I saw this news I just had to post it.

Action Quake: Espionage has been released. Known more as though, CTB.

Unless you've been living under a rock for the past few months, you would realize that Fool Killer's server is uncomfotably cramped. All along, it was testing of AQ:E. Not only does it include CTB, but also other forms of play, like assassination and delivery. But it doesn't stop there! Now, server ops can edit and create their own 'scenarios' for their server, but still use the 5 or 6 default ones. Imagine the demo/movie making capabilites! (hint, hint) Lastly, it includes support for a map specifically designed for CTB (ctbcity, which you can grab at Map Zone), a very nice briefcase from Gooseman (and when are his models NOT nice?), skinned by our very own ViperX! Be sure to send him spam mail. :P

No word on Gangsters (which now have a site on PlanetQuake), since they had a set release date of yesterday. It's still early though, and I'm not for sure if this will come out today.

3 Demos

The demos page has been updated with 3 new demos. Go check them out here. Sorry it took so long. I've also updated the links page. Removed, added and changed a couple. Lemme know if you want a link up.

Map Depot released a couple maps a couple days ago. I've tried Airliner and it's a great map. Go grab it and Alcatraz at Map Depot or Map Zone.

Gangsters didn't make its deadline of April 5th but it should be out on the 10th. Check their page for details.

AQDT's CTB should also be out very shortly along with a new map by the amazing mapper RUSKPRICK, CTBCITY. This map is available for download at the Map Zone.

I fixed the Red Rover link. Sorry bout that. Grab it also at the files page.

We have gotten a very very good Pak today. Custom for AQ2OG by Doc[A51]. This pack is a must for all action players. It has all new action graphics for the whole Quake2 main menu, all new icons and numbers, crosshairs and more. Grab it on the files page.

Marine Vweap and Red Rover

Marine Vweap is out. Grab it here. Ofcourse you'll need the Marine model which is made by HitmanDaz here. View some screen shots: M4, MP5, HC. There is a new server running this Model 194.185.21.33:27913. Also Bunny's runs it at 24.112.110.104:26000.

Red Rover is Mr Brians newest AQ2 mod. Well see, one guy starts out the round as the only IT then when he kills people, they become ITS and the last person to become IT, is IT next round it was a fun mod. Grab it here.

I've got a couple demos and some more stuff to post but that can wait. Sorry :) Also Im the proud owner of a new Logitech TrackMan +. So if you see me in a game and it looks like im head banging to Karrlson, I probablly am or I am just trying to aim :)

Stuff

Woah 2 updates in 2 days. Amazing :P

1st, I have done a Male Vweap fix. If you look closely at the male mk23 (pistol) or the dual pistols you will see that the model on the right hand is screwed up. Download the fix here. Unzip it to your x:\quake2\action directory like it says in the readme :P

Knife Shooting guns is out. You were scared when that guy was chucking knives at you in urban2? Now you'll piss your pants when a guy with an MP5 starts shooting knives at you :) Grab this baby for Win32 platforms here, Linux here and source here (I had trouble getting source) Please read KNIVES.1ST for details. This mod was brought to you by inghaw.

Models baby

Busy night last night. But well worth it. There were some requests for Marine vweap (Mostly on BuNNY[KoZ]'s server (24.112.110.104:26000) which uses the model for teamplay. You can view screen shots: M4, MP5, HC. Thanks to Hammer[TOOL] and [20ID]MikFly for providing the server for testing and posing :) I'll release this as soon as I get a word from Hitman Daz.

After that I was in the mood so I went to Q2PMP and looked for an Action themed model that I liked. There I found Blade. Click here for Q2PMPs review. VWeap was easy for this model and its done. Here are some more pics: Akimbo, M4, HC. Sorry but Im not taking screenshots of every model :P I'll release this too as soon as the author checks it out and gives me the go.

McClane VWeap has to be redone. Things I didn't understand as a very new modeler made some of the animations screwy. The weapon blew up like the Stay Puff Marshmallow Man (spell that right?) for a couple frames. Not that noticeable but I want it fixed. Gimme a couple days and I'll post it.
